With first-quarter revenue growth of 11% and total sales of $17.1 million, Audioboom says its predictions that podcast advertising would be on a stronger footing this year have come true. That represents a growth rate of more than twice the 5% observed at the close of the previous year. With a total revenue of $6.7 million, March was Audioboom's highest revenue month since May 2022. In the next quarters, CEO Stuart Last anticipates the ad market to continue to grow.
Audiboom also updates investors that it is renegotiating its creator contracts with revenue shares to benefit the company. It has eliminated over $5 million in minimum guarantee obligations to creators in recent months.
Audioboom reported a record 7,839 brand advertisers in the first quarter, up 21% year over year. The revenue per 1,000 downloads (eCPM) for Audioboom rose 27% to $52.17, and buyers paid a record price. March saw record revenue for its programmatic marketplace Showcase. [ Read more ]

💥 Uncovering What Drives Podcast Shares: Insights from a Survey of Loyal Listeners
Podcasters actively seek new listeners through advertising and social media. But many may miss the easiest way. Podcast tech company Alitu's The Podcast Host asked listeners why they share podcasts. About 13% of respondents shared an episode because the host asked.
Katie Paterson of The Podcast Host wrote in a blog post that asking listeners to share your podcast during your show was powerful. My grandmother said, "If you don't ask, you don't get. We may worry it sounds desperate or promotional. But consider: Do you dislike podcasts that ask listeners to share? Me neither. It's part of a successful show."
Only 109 podcast listeners were surveyed, but it sheds light on what drives them. Besides being asked, 48% of podcast listeners said they share a podcast because the content is too good to keep to themselves. 39% said they know someone who would like it.
