🔥Podcast Series "You Didn't See Nothin" Wins Pulitzer 2024
The winners of the 2024 Pulitzer Prize for audio journalism are USG Audio and the nonprofit newsroom Invisible Institute in Chicago. A Chicago hate crime from the 1990s is revisited in this limited-run podcast series called You Didn't See Nothin, which the jury describes as a "powerful amalgam of memoir, community history, and journalism." The written series Missing in Chicago was also created by it.
In the show You Didn't See Nothin, host Yohance Lacour explores how the tale that first drew him into the field of investigative journalism has impacted his life over the last 25 years. The media swiftly shifted its focus to tales of racial healing and reconciliation involving the attacker's family and black leaders working together. In order to look into the hate crime, Lacour started collaborating with a local newspaper. As a result of covering the incident, his disenchantment with journalism grew.
After serving a 10-year prison term, Lacour is back in Chicago in You Didn't See Nothin. He used previously unreleased audio recordings and fresh interviews to locate important figures in order to investigate the story's relevance to the present. [Read more]
